General:   

  • BSU is attending the Black College Expo in Oakland on February 8th. Any student interested in attending HBCU or receiving a full ride or money for college, please see Black Student Union member.
  • According to Linked in 2020 jobs report the career of Data Scientist is one of the highest job growth rates with 14,000 job openings in the bay area and salaries over 1 hundred thousand per year. Data science is a combination of math, science and computer skills. Today, Thursday, Jan 30th at UCSC data scientist will be presenting in career center at lunch, pizza will be provided. You must sign up in the counseling office ahead of time.
  • The Boardwalk is hiring! Instant interviews are held Monday through Friday until 4pm and Saturdays 9am-3pm. On the spot interviews!
  • Whiting’s Foods on the Boardwalk is hosting a “HIRING POP-UP EVENT” on Sunday, February 9th from 10:30am to 2pm with walk-in interviews. Check out their Facebook page for more details!
  • Audition packets for Freaky Friday, the musical, are available in room 88. Get yours today.

ASB:

  • Listen up Cardinals! Winter Formal is around the corner on February 8th at the Elks’ Lodge from 6 – 10 pm. Tickets are on sale in the quad at lunch every day for $20. This includes food, a photo booth and a DJ! Hope to see you there. 

Seniors:

  • Check the scholarship calendar on the Santa Cruz High School website for local scholarship opportunities! Every senior should apply for the Santa Cruz Community Foundation Scholarship application that is due on February 6th. Also, the see Lauren in the Main Office for your SCHS Alumni and SC Rotary Scholarship application!
  • California Host Lions Club Student Speaker Contest has been rescheduled to early February! See Lauren in the Main Office for information on how to compete! Scholarships available up to $10,000.00! 
  • Seniors if you’re interested participating in Latino Graduation, there will be a mandatory meeting tomorrow at 11:00am in Room 67. Need more info? Check in with Samuel Solis.

Clubs: The following clubs meet at lunch:

  • BSU in room 60.
  • Women’s Honor Society in room 84.
  • Rainbow Alliance in room 63.

Sports:

  • All students interested in participating in swim this season, there is a meeting today at lunch in the auditorium.
  • Boys volleyball tryouts are Monday, February 3rdin the Gym from 7pm-9pm with a meeting following from 9pm-9:30pm. The first practice will be held on Tuesday, February 4 in the Gym from 7pm-9pm.
  • Softball tryouts have been moved to next week, February 3rd.
  • Boys Tennis practice start next Monday, February 3rd at 3:30-5:30pm

  • Reminder from the Textbook Room: Get your semester 1 books returned as soon as it is appropriate! If the textbook room is not open, please use the book drop slot next to the door.
  • Seniors, make a plan to return or replace any missing books before the end of the year, as missing books can affect receiving your yearbook and diploma.
  • Your library loves that you check out books. But we also needs them back for other readers! Please return the overdue books that some of you have had all semester…or even longer. Keep it Cardinal by return your library books!
