General:           

  • There are three days remaining to sign up for the payment plan for prom.  Stop by ASB at lunch with questions or to purchase a ticket.
  • Students, the deadline to guarantee your yearbook purchase in on February 8th. This is also the last chance to personalize your yearbook cover and it’s the final deadline for parents to purchase Ad space in the back of the yearbook. Make sure you secure your copy of the 2019 SCHS yearbook through the Jostens website.”
  • Blood Drive 2/12. Sign up in ASB at lunch! Spots are filling up!
  • Pick up tech applications and audition forms for Mamma Mia in room 88. Please return tech applications by Thursday, January 31st.
  • Love is in the air, show your appreciation for your friend or “special friend” with a valentines’ day gram. Buy your valentine’s day gram in ASB staring this Friday, February 1st. Cost $1.
  • Freshmen and Sophomores interested in taking the PSAT 8/9 or the PSAT 10
  • The PSAT 8/9 and the PSAT 10 provide an early, additional opportunity for students to practice for the PSAT/NMSQT and the SAT.  We have ordered a limited number of PSAT 8/9 (for freshmen) and PSAT 10 (for sophomores) for those who so choose.  The charge for each test is $20, with no fee waivers possible.  AVID students are automatically signed up for these tests at no charge.  Students may sign up in the Finance Office (bottom floor of the main building across from the California Street stairs) during lunch time only, on a first-come-first-served basis.
  • The PSAT 10 is scheduled for April 11, 2019 and the PSAT 8/9 is scheduled for April 12, 2019.  Students will miss the entire mornings’ classes.  It is the responsibility of the students to pre-arrange with their teachers to make up any missed work. 

Clubs: The following clubs meet today during lunch.

  • Rainbow Alliance will be hosting a viewing of Love, Simon during lunch this Thursday in the auditorium.  Everyone is welcome.
  • LSU will be hosting a potluck on February 8th in room 67 at lunch. Everyone is invited and you are welcome to bring food and friends.
  • Cooking in room 18.  

Seniors:

  • A rep from Jostens will be back on campus during lunch on Friday, February 1st to take cap and gown orders! The scholarship deadline calendar has been updated on the Santa Cruz High School website. The Santa Cruz Community Foundation Scholarship is due February 4th! Everyone should apply for this scholarship as soon as possible! See Lauren in the Main Office for any senior questions! Also!
  • Today is the very last day to submit senior quotes or vote on the senior superlatives. Check your email and submit today! Or…come by room 45 during 4th period to work with yearbook rep. Deadline is 3 pm today.

    Sports:

  • Boys’ tennis meeting today, January 29, at 3:30 at the tennis courts.
  • All boys interested in playing golf must complete their Family ID and turn in their sports physical to Kathy in the main office before they can practice.
  • Please release jv girls basketball at 2:30 today and jv girls soccer at 3 pm today.

There will be dinner, dancing, a DJ, and a ride up to our departure dock. Tickets cost $165 for the month of January.   • Need a job?  The Boardwalk is hiring. If you show up to their HR Office any time between 10 am and 4pm, Monday – Saturday, they will interview you instantly/immediately on-the-spot. Human Resources is located across the street from the Carousel ride.
  • Mamma Mia! Auditions are next week! See flyers, Facebook, or Instagram for details. We will also have an informational meeting Thursday, January 24th at lunch in the auditorium.

  • The Santa Cruz High wrestling team hosted the first annual Ladies Coast Classic last Saturday, January 19th. 31 teams and 170 wrestlers competed. The boys wrestling team was the backbone of the tournament. Congratulations to our ladies who wrestled Emma Thorpe, Namaya Cervelli, Lazuli Dutton, Alex Bradford, Sonia Anderson and Maya Letona who placed 3rd and Greta Gustafson 1st place.
