General:       

  • Juniors & Seniors PROM TICKETS are on sale NOW. Yes, you heard that right! We are hosting the 2019 prom on May 18th on a Yacht. There will be dinner, dancing, a DJ, and a ride up to our departure dock. Tickets cost $165 for the month of January. We are offering a payment plan to help alleviate costs. You must sign up by January 31st to be on the payment plan. Stop by ASB at lunch with questions or to purchase a ticket.
  • Mark your calendars!  The Blood Drive is February 12th. You can sign up now at lunch in the ASB room (next to room 64.)
  • Attention AP Language & Composition students! This announcement concerns the summer reading assignment. Please bring you work on day 1 of class. If you haven’t done any of it, please talk to Ms. Owchko in room 86 at lunch today or email her ASAP. Thanks! 
  • All students.  If you do not need your textbooks for your finals, return your books to the textbook room or return your textbooks to the textbook room after you have taken your final.
  • Need a job?  The Boardwalk is hiring. If you show up to their HR Office any time between 10 am and 4pm, Monday – Saturday, they will interview you instantly/immediately on-the-spot. Human Resources is located across the street from the Carousel ride.

Seniors:

  • Seniors, don't forget to submit your senior quote to accompany your senior portrait in our yearbook. Remember that submissions must be approved by yearbook staff and administration. Check your email for the submission form link.
  • Yearbook needs your vote! Check your school email for the link to vote and submit your candidates for the best of SCHS Seniors 2019.  Deadline for both of these submission is January 22nd.

Sports:

  • Sports Physicals next week on Wednesday, January 16th at 1 pm in the gym.  Cost $25.  Forms can be picked up next the athletic bulletin board next to Coach E’s Office or on the Santa Cruz High website under athletics.

  • Did you check out a library book for a research project in English? Do you still have your science free read book? How about that novel or biography you took home over the break?  As this semester draws to a close, please check your locker, your backpack, and your bedroom floor for any library books that are due . . . or overdue . . . and return them to the library! While you are here, take a list and plan your 2019 year of reading!

  • Hey AP chemistry students: There is a lunch-time review session scheduled this Wednesday, the 9th. Since that day is a minimum day, the lunch-time review session is being rescheduled. It will still occur on Wednesday the 9th, but it will be after 4th period. The lunchtime review session will start at 12:35 in room 22. If you need help with chapter 3, balancing equations, the mole, and stoichiometry, come to Ms. Falls’ room on Wednesday after 4th period.

  • Word Lab, a free after-school writing program focused on creative writing of all kinds, is open for enrollment! Word Lab meets on Wednesdays from 3:30pm - 5:30pm at the Museum of Art & History. Session 2 starts on January 16th and runs until March 13th. Registration deadline is Wednesday, January 9th. Students in Word Lab are published in a professionally-designed anthology and receive an invitation to read their work at Bookshop Santa Cruz. If you are interested in signing up for Word Lab, please talk to Veronica Zaleha in the library.

Seniors:

  • The Santa Cruz Community Foundation Scholarship application is open! Go to the Santa Cruz High School website for more info, or see Lauren in the Main Office!
  • It’s not too late if you haven’t ordered your cap and gown, do so now on the Jostens.com website!
