Registration* for the 2021-2022 School Year begins February 1st, 2021

Enrollment Process Do I need to complete the online registration?
Mission Hill Middle School Yes Apply for a new transfer (see our Intra/Inter District Transfers Page). Once it is approved, your child will be enrolled at SCHS. No
Mission Hill Middle School No Your child will automatically be enrolled at SCHS. No
Branciforte Middle School Yes If Mission Hill is the middle school that your child was supposed to attend but you requested a transfer to Branciforte Middle, then you will automatically be enrolled at SCHS (unless you submit a transfer to attend a different high school) No
Branciforte Middle School No Apply for a new transfer (see our Intra/Inter District Transfers Page). Once it is approved, your child will be enrolled at SCHS. No
Branciforte Small Schools Programs -- Verify your school of residence here. If SCHS is your designated school, contact the Counseling Secretary at SCHS to enroll. No
Branciforte Small Schools Programs -- If SCHS is not your designated school, apply for a new transfer (see our Intra/Inter District Transfers Page). Once it is approved, contact the Counseling Secretary at SCHS to enroll. No
All other schools outside of Santa Cruz City Schools District -- If your child has ever attended a school within Santa Cruz City Schools, contact the Counseling Secretary at SCHS for enrollment information. (Westlake, Bayview, Gault, Mission Hill, Branciforte, Santa Cruz High, Harbor or Soquel High) No
All other schools outside of Santa Cruz City Schools District -- If your child is new to our school district, follow the enrollment directions below to register a new student. (Gateway, PCS, Kirby, Holy Cross, Shoreline, Good Shepherd, New Brighton, etc.) Yes
To register a brand new student to SCCS, please follow the steps below:

Step 1: Determine your school of attendance

If Santa Cruz High School is not your designated school or if your home address is not listed in the boundary book, please see the Intradistrict/Interdistrict Transfers page for more information.


Step 2: Register your student 
     

  • Returning Students
    Students who are returning to the district (Santa Cruz City Schools) or who have a sibling in the district, please contact our Counseling Secretary at (831)429-3960 Ext. 300 for information on how to register your student.
  • New Students
    All students new to the district must register online.
  1. Set School Designation
  2.  Check your email 
    •  You will receive an access code to create your Illuminate Parent Portal. If you do not receive an email within 10 minutes, please check your spam folder or contact our Counseling Secretary.
  3.  Create your Illuminate Parent Portal 
  4.  Pre-Registration Forms 
    •  The Counseling Secretary will send Pre-Registration Forms to you via the Illuminate Parent Portal. Please complete these forms as soon as possible.

 

Step 3: Submit Required Documents

Registration cannot be approved until we have all required documents. To finalize your student’s registration, you must provide the following to our Counseling Secretary:

  • Verification of Age (Birth Record, Birth Certificate, Baptism Certificate, Passport or Affidavit of the Parent, Guardian or Custodian of the minor)
  • Proof of Residence (PG&E or Water Utility Bill)
    • With approved Intradistrict or Interdistrict Transfer Application (if applicable)
  • Copy of High School Transcript or Latest Report Card

    (Not applicable to B40 and Shoreline Middle School)

  • Copy of current IEP or 504 Plan (if applicable)
