Chemistry
Chemistry is a college-preparatory, lab-oriented course with an emphasis on inquiry, making sense of data, problem solving, and constructing models to explain our universe. The curriculum includes the following: atomic and molecular structure, bonding and chemical reactions, the periodic table, states of matter, acids and bases, oxidation-reduction, the mole, stoichiometry, rates of reaction, and chemical equilibrium. The class will often emphasize the quantitative aspects of chemistry. Chemistry class will prepare students for AP Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, AP Biology, and physiology. Students may take physics before or after chemistry.

AP Environmental Science
AP Environmental Science provides students with the scientific principles, concepts, and methodologies required to understand the interrelationships of the natural world, to identify and analyze environmental problems both natural and human-made, to evaluate the relative risks associated with these problems, and to examine alternative solutions for resolving or preventing them. AP Environmental Science is designed to be a college level class. Students must take responsibility for their own work. Good lab technique and an ability to write professional-level lab reports is expected of students.
